Rowing Australia Athletes’ Commission Chair, Hannah Every-Hall, today confirmed the members of the Commission for 2016/2017 season.

The purpose of the RA Athletes’ Commission is to represent the views of athletes to the Rowing Australia Board and relevant committees of RA. They report to the athlete body the outcomes of relevant decisions made by RA on issues that are relevant to the athlete body.

The Commission, via its Chair, Mrs Every-Hall, informs the board on all matters relating to high performance athletes within the Australian rowing community.

This year, Mrs Every-Hall will be joined by the following current athletes as members – Maddie Edmunds, Georgia Nesbitt, Lucy Stephan, Paralympic silver medalist Erik Horrie, Luke Letcher and Joshua Hicks. Additional members come in the form of non-competing or retired athletes, this year these members are former Athletes’ Commission Chair and Olympic silver medalist, Cameron McKenzie-McHarg, Olympians Sally Kehoe and Fiona Albert and lightweight rower James Wilson. Olympic rowing gold medalist, Kim Brennan, sits on the Commission as Ex-Officio as a Member of the AOC’s Athletes’ Commission.

Mrs Every-Hall commented: “I’m delighted to be chairing such a diverse, motivated and enthusiastic team, which is exactly what you want from a Commission that represents all our national teams and athletes in this amazing country.”

“I’m particularly delighted to have the experience of Olympic and Paralympic medalists Cameron McKenzie-McHarg, Erik Horrie and Kim Brennan, alongside some of our younger athletes such as Maddie Edmunds, Luke Letcher and Georgia Nesbitt. I look forward to being proactive at working with this group over the coming year and also actively representing their views to the RA Board, so together we can achieve the outcomes we are all after.”

The mission of the Rowing Australia Athlete’s Commission is

  • To represent elite rowers in matters affecting selection to and performance of the Australian Rowing Team.
  • To work with RA in ensuring adherence to policy and effective communication regarding matters affecting rowers.
  • To provide a channel for communication generally from rowers to the executive of Rowing Australia.
