Rowing Australia today announced the selection of a PR3 Mixed Coxed Four and a PR3 Men’s Pair to its 2018 World Rowing Championships para-rowing team. This is in addition to the already selected PR1 Men’s Single Scull, Erik Horrie.

Paralympian Kate Murdoch makes her return to the Australian Rowing Team, after taking a year out post the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games, and is joined in the PR3 Mixed Coxed Four by debutants James Talbot, Ben Gibson, Nikki Ayres and coxswain Renae Domaschenz.

Meanwhile, subject to performance, Jed Altschwager will make his debut in the PR3 Men’s Pair with either Ben Gibson or James Talbot.

Para-rowing Lead, Gordon Marcks said: “We have been working hard to grow Para-rowing in Australia and have had particular success in finding new and talented athletes in the PR3 category.

“We are extremely excited about the opportunities that have come out of the recent selection trials, with the selection of a PR3 Mixed Coxed Four as a priority boat along with a PR3 Men’s Pair.

“A highlight of the team is that it will be the international debut for four new PR3 athletes with the expectation of further improvements leading to the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games. To have such a strong PR3 group join successful para-team stalwart, Erik Horrie, augers well for the future of para-rowing in Australia.”
