The 2016 Sydney International Rowing Regatta returns Penrith, New South Wales this year from 14 to 20 March 2016. This year’s event will once again see the return of the Australian Open Championships, the Australian Open Schools Championships and the King’s & Queen’s Cups Interstate Regatta.

With competitors, coaches and supporters all expected to flock to the Sydney 2000 Olympic rowing venue again this year, followers of the sport can expect to see plenty of great action including the chance to see some Australia’s Olympic and Paralympic rowing hopefuls on and off the water before they head to Rio de Janeiro for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

This year will see the addition of some new races to the schedule including a Men’s Club Eight and Women’s Club Eight, while spectators will also be treated to two new interstate races, featuring para-rowing for the first time, the Legs, Trunk and Arms Men’s Single Scull and the Legs, Trunk and Arms Women’s Single Scull.

The Exhibition Park will once again have plenty of traders to cater for rowing and non-rowing enthusiasts alike, while later in the week the ROWUnion marquee will again open its doors for guests to enjoy the racing action.

The King’s and Queen’s Cup Interstate Regatta will take place on Sunday 20 March, where no doubt New South Wales will be hoping to reclaim the King’s Cup in the Interstate Men’s Eight race, a trophy they lost for the first time in seven years last year, when Victoria took home the historic trophy. The day will also see McVilly-Pearce pin presentations to some of Australia’s past and present rowers as we continue to celebrate those who have represented Australia at the highest level.
